Racist/Ignorance: Slaves had a positive outlook on the institution of slavery.
THEN, WHY WERE THEY RUNNING AWAY? They risked their lives to get away. When was the last fucking time you decided to WALK ON FOOT from Alabama to CANADA for no reason ?????
Why did Whites have to enforce rules to keep them put, to where they couldn’t walk the streets without permission AND a pass? Why is it during the Civil War, especially after the Contraband law, slaves ran away from their masters to Union camps?

I couldn’t believe that picture. Blacks were even reblogging that too. No, blacks did not like slavery. The ones who didn’t leave didn’t because they were rightfully scared (being chased down by dogs and sold further South away from what you know and who you know isn’t fun) or it was a literal impossibility, not because they were happy. Plus, life as a free slave was so rife with prejudice (in the NORTH, since everyone thinks the North was a magical place where blacks found equality) that sometimes it was in a sense easier to get food & basic shelter as a slave.
